The Trail Shop, is geared for those interested in trying overnight backpacking trips. It will be facilitated by Andrew Knight of Hike NS and offered at
6:30 pm on Thursday, May 2 at The Trail Shop in Halifax (6120 Quinpool Rd.).
Do you have an interest in multi-day/overnight hiking trips in the wilderness, but don’t know how to go about it? Looking for new experiences/challenges beyond day hiking? This clinic is designed as an introduction to backpacking for those with no or little experience. It will cover how to plan and prepare for a backpacking trip and what equipment you will need. Come with those burning questions about backpacking preparation!
Attendees can enjoy 10% off shopping afterwards (some restrictions apply).
Presenter
The presenter is Andrew Knight, an experienced hiker and Board Member of Hike Nova Scotia. Upon moving to Nova Scotia, Andrew decided it was practical to section hike the Appalachian Trail from Vermont to Maine. Over the years, he has been working to complete this goal, but has also discovered and backpacked other trails in the Northeast US and closer to home in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He looks forward to sharing some of his lessons learned so you might avoid some of the mistakes he has made.
This clinic is offered in partnership with
The Trail Shop and the
Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.
The clinic is free and no registration is required.
